I am doing a column in Escondido Times-Advocate called “Community Matters.” This is my first installment called “Goodbye ‘for profit ‘ charter schools.” Comments always welcomed.
If you haven’t had enough, I’m in the weeds of the precincts final numbers for 75th AD. Escondido and San Marcos (my Home) are the 2 largest communities in the San Diego portion of the District. Temecula is the largest community in the District.
Escondido:
Total votes cast 21,986
For Geraci 10,633
48.4%
San Marcos:
Total votes cast 16,031
For Geraci 10,179
63.5% (Wow)
Temecula:
Total votes cast 42,437
For Geraci 16,694
39.3%

Final results are now certified in San Diego and Riverside counties. Thank you AD75 for the 73,448 or 44% of the votes. Although we fell short of a win, I know we out performed my Democratic predecessors in this District and moved the needle forward. Our performance was best in San Marcos and Escondido but our volunteers in every community were amazing and the friendships forever. Onward.
Last year at the California Consumer Attorney’s conference in San Francisco. Congressman Adam Schiff will have a key role in shaping oversight over the next two years as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. You’ll be hearing about subpoenas a lot this year. Hold your seat!
As we make our way through the Official Canvass of ballots at the Registrar offices, inland North County and Temecula have lots of successes to celebrate. Fallbrook was a clean sweep for endorsed local candidates. Escondido is pivoting to a new majority at city hall. San Marcos has new District Councilmembers. A new blue energy continues to grow in Temecula.
Although my campaign will fall short of a victory, I am encouraged by the movement and successes we engendered. We earned over 57,000 votes and will show a percentage of over 43% when all is counted. No candidate in this District has even broken 40% in the past decade!
I will be reflecting on the analysis once the counting is done and deciding with my family on what’s next for me. In the meantime, the campaign still has about $20K in debt to retire. Retirement of this debt will allow me to focus on future planning. Many of you have given once or more to my campaign over the election season and I remain very grateful to all of you. As a corporate free campaign, your donations were the fuel of the campaign. I ask you once more to dig deep or help me find contributors to retire the remaining debt. If each of the 1000 followers of my campaign Facebook page gave $20, we would be done.

As a constituent of this District, I urge her to work with Assembly leadership toward a strong California on issues of healthcare, education, affordable housing, environment and to continue the steadfast movement away from dark money sources in our political discourse.
